The Republic of Rome is a compressed abstraction of more than 250 years of history simulating politics in the Roman state during the republic. Players control factions composed of leading senatorial families and compete for state offices, military commands, economic concessions a new adherent. Each player attempts to increase the strength of his faction to the point where it dominate...s the government. However, the Senate must also attend to the affairs of state in a hostile world, necessitating a certain amount of cooperation in the prosecution of wars and the maintenance of public contentment. Failure to do so, especially on the onset when Rome is most vulnerable, my results in the collapse of the republic. Therefore, the players must defeat not only one another, but the game itself which constitutes an ever-present opponent scheming to divide in the feed them all. Players are advised to keep the threat of the downfall of the republic ever most in mind and stand ready to cooperate for the good of the state. Otherwise, the most likely winner will be the game, and all players will be put to The Sword! Included: Gameboard, 3 Decks of 64 Cards Each, 3 - 6 Sided Dice (1 Colored and 2 White) 3 Sheets of Die-Cut Playing Pieces, 6 Sequence of Play/Faction Treasury Cards and Rulebook. This game is for 3 - 6 players 8 years old and older. It also includes rules for Solitaire and 2-Player Versions. The game, all of its components are in excellent condition, it is partially punched. Note it is missing 3 pieces, 1 of the yellow round cardboard pieces and 2 of the black cardboard pieces. The box does have one split corner which has been taped.
