It's hard to describe how incredibly beautiful this piece is without seeing it in hand. I am a novice at this sort of item so I will try to describe it to the best of my ability. This hand embroidered silk robe is very old, but in very nice shape in my opinion. This was brought to the United States in the 1940s and has been tucked away all these years until just recently. The robe measures 40" long from neck to bottom and 30" across from underarm to under arm. The inside is a lovely br...ight yellow silk and the outer color is primarily a deep blue. There are several different scenes depicting people as well as birds butterflies a tiger, elephant, deer and possibly lotus flowers. There are 5 heavy gold tone metal buttons that appear to be handmade as none of them match exactly. eBay limits my photos to 12 and it is hard to show all of the wonderful depictions and accents, so if you'd like specific photos, please feel free to ask. There is some slight soiling around the neck and some small holes inside. I've tried to show that in the photos. I don't know an exact age but it wouldn't surprise me if it dates to the 1800s.
