He was Superintendent of the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland from June 15, 1991 to August 1, 1994. He was reassigned in the aftermath of an exam cheating scandal there.[1] Born in Lima, Ohio, the son of Rodney and Marie Lynch, he is a 1964 graduate of the United States Naval Academy.[2] He played football there, lettering three times and captaining the 1963 team. He also was involved in boxing.[3] Lynch also held the command o...f the Eisenhower Battle Group during the course of Operation Desert Shield, and chief of Navy Legislative Affairs. He retired in 1995, in the position of Director of the Navy Staff at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
This is one of the plaques from his estate. Has a wooden backing with a heavy maybe bronze naval ship crest. Named to him for his service on the ship. Heavy heavy piece. He joined the Navy in 1964 and completed a BMil.[1] In 1977 he commanded the Navy's first Strike Craft, SAS Jan Smuts. In 1978 he completed an MBL via Unisa. In 1984 he became the OC of SAS Scorpion, the Strike Craft Flotilla and in 1986 as a Commodore, the Officer Commanding of the South African Military Academy in Saldhana.[3] At the end of 1990 he was promoted to Rear Admiral and posted as Chief of Naval Support
