Summary: this is a 1950’s model #2 “Stiletto” with a 7-1/4" tool steel blade, brass guard, commando shaped stacked leather handle and duralumin butt cap with nut. The relatively one sided stamp might lead one to believe the knife has been shop cleaned or reground... but not the case. In my opinion, the blade finish is original and the knife has not been jacked around with. While the knife is not perfect it is in great shape for it's age. You’ll find a few light insertion scratches on the blade, patina / tarnish / sheath storage marks on the brass guard, a couple of small dings on the leather handle and light handling marks on the duralumin butt. Overall, a very pretty knife that will clean up quite nicely.
The knife is paired to the original brown button Heiser sheath with stone pocked removed. The sheath was probably carried long ago and tucked away, no indication that the sheath has been on a belt in recent years. Toe stitching missing (visible in photos) but IMO does not effect the integrity of the sheath. You'll find scuffs and such on both sides and a bit of darkness at the throat from past knife storage, Heiser stamp and blade length stamped on the back belt loop.
7 photos for review – as shown, an older black Randall Made Knives carry case is included. This is a fair price on an older model 2 and original Heiser sheath, a great one to buy and tuck away for collection / investment purposes. Thanks and good luck.
