Description
VINTAGE RENWICK ...CANADIAN LEATHER BRIEFCASE 1970s
Beautiful attache case from Renwick Canadian Leather, made in Canada, is thick cowhide leather, walnut colored. It has some stains and scratches consistent with normal wear for its age. It has a weathered appearance. The main compartment opens to 8" with brass hinges that lock it in place when opened. This compartment locks with a key, which is included. There are two large pockets on the front and on the back. Brass feet. Removable snap handle grip. Measures 17.5" wide, 13" tall, 7.5" deep.
An owner's tag inside gives this bag a bit of historical significance. The tag says the bag belonged to an early leader in the movement for equality of women in academia. While teaching at Tufts University, she filed the first class action suit that would guarantee equal pay and equal benefits for women professors. It became the precedent-setting case in the American academic world. Having been a Director of the College Art Association and the National Council of Arts Administrators, she is listed in Who's Who in the World. I believe she is currently at the Corcoran School of the Arts & Design.
