By 1944, US Navy and Marine Corps pilots were wearing the ultra lightweight nylon flight suit in the hot Pacific weather. It was especially prized by Marine F4U Corsair pilots flying out of primitive airstrips in the tropics. This US Navy USMC Marine WW2 F4U CORSAIR PILOT ULTRA LIGHTWEIGHT NYLON FLIGHT SUIT is in good condition, with a spot camo nylon sewn patch repair at the front left thigh and the middle right seat, some dark spot soiling at that front left thigh, a seam tear do...wn the front inseam and the left cuff, a poorly finished seam along the upper back left sleeve, missing the front left ankle pocket button, and with some overall age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the suit is in fine shape, with no other damage to the ultra lightweight OD nylon construction. Most interestingly, it's a Size 36, boasts a fully functional "TALON" brass front zipper with a matching nylon pull, and dates to ca. June 1944 by the contract number on the original US Navy nomenclature label at the interior left chest. It features a rounded collar, button chest and front ankle pockets, "TALON" brass zippered back ankle pockets, button waist adjusters, a slotted pen pocket at the left shoulder, and a gusseted, belted bi-swing back for mobility, and is a fine example of a rare, original US Navy USMC Marine WW2 F4U CORSAIR PILOT ULTRA LIGHTWEIGHT NYLON FLIGHT SUIT.
