This is a beautiful late 1870's early 1880's Victorian hall lamp. It features a fabulous emerald green to frost white ombre effect pressed glass shade. it has raised spandrel patterns on each of its 6 faces divided by raised columns. Inside each panel is a design of a rope and tassel portiere, which is very appropriate given that this would have hung in the entrance to the home. This pattern was achieved using the lost art of acid etching the surface of the glass. The shade i...tself is in perfect condition, no cracks or chips. The stamped brass hardware is all present and complete and the rope chain still runs on the pulleys perfectly (please excuse the blurry shot there, it was an action shot after all). This piece is fresh out of a large Victorian home in Historic Lunenburg NS, home of the Atlantic schooner fleet. This is ready to hang in the entrance of your historic home, I would just hang this under a ceiling outlet and run a line with a socket and a led bulb into the shade and it would glow beautifully and last another 150 years.
