This is a used sample of antique barbed wire fencing. This sample features a John Stubbe patent, dated October 23, 1883. This wire is called "Stubbe's Small Sheet Metal Plated, with Folded & Hanging Barbs", by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 746-B) (746-B shows the normally placed Stubbe barb, not this folded and hanging barb)_. This wire features two twisted together round line wires. Barbs are six pointed made from a square sheet metal plate. Plate is cut at each corner and corners bent... outwards to form barbing points. One side of barb is folded under and barbs are hung by the opposing tab. Sample is 18" in length and has three barbing plates.. Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered. Wire shows age wear, with light pitting. There are no broken or repaired barbs. Wire is in good used condition. There are no off odors.I have listed other wires, both as auction and fixed price listings.
