West Germany - Works!
For auction: Very nice dark mahogany mantel clock, made by the Welby Division of Elgin National Watch Company, with movements imported from post-WWII West Germany - probably Hermle. The clock chimes Westminster on the hour and half-hour. This clock probably dates to the 1960s or 1970s. There are two keys included, one of which is used for winding; not sure what the other is f...or, or if it belongs with this clock.
DIMENSIONS:Width: 18-5/8 inchesHeight: 8-1/4 inchesDepth: 5 inchesWeight: 6 pounds, 2 ouncesCONDITION:Excellent cosmetic condition. One very minor blemish on the top of the case (see photos). The dial is in great condition with no wear, and the hands are nice and straight. Front and rear doors open smoothly. Mechanically, the clock has been wound slightly and runs for a while; we have not tested how long it will run or how accurate it is. The chimes work and sound great. As with any vintage winding clock, this one could no doubt benefit from interior cleaning, lubrication and maintenance.
