Rare vintage 1939 Operadio guitar and harp amp. Beautiful!
There’s just not a slew of info out there on the amps made by the 1930s Operadio company. We do know that they sound awesome. And we know Operadio made some of the earliest amps for Gretsch, Gibson, and a few others. But they also made a few of their own, like the one you see here, and these are the rarest of them all. Especially one in this fine original condition.
Check out the photos. The co...ntrasting light and dark birch veneers have a few dings, but are still gleaming 80 years on. The round grille with the three angled metal guards is way cool, like something out of a steampunk novel.
But most important, the Operadio 8” speaker, combined with the original vintage “coke bottle” tube circuitry, gives you a sweet and punchy vintage tone. Plus, the amp is all original from speaker, to transformer, to handle, to the early double-fused power cord and plug.
For guitar practice, at home or on the road, or for playing harp, or gigging at small clubs or parties, this rare 1930’s gem will give you the warm full vintage vibe that modern small amps just can’t get to.
