This is a used sample of antique barbed wire fencing. This sample features a John Stubbe patent, dated October 23, 1883. This wire is called "Stubbe's Large Double Ribbed Plate Barb on two Lines", by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 745-A). This wire features two twisted together round line wires. Barbs are made of sheet metal, with diagonal cut at each corner. Sides of cut are bent to hold barbs to line wires. Each of these plates has two parallel raised ribs on one side. Plates measur...e 1-1/2" x 1-5/8". This sample is 18" in length and has two barbing plates. Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered. Wire shows light age wear, with light oxidation. There are no bent, broken or repaired barbs. Wire is in very good used condition. There are no off odors.I have listed other wires, both as auction and fixed price listings.
