Among watch collectors, the Omega Watch Co. of Switzerland, a firm founded by Louis Brandt of Biel in 1848, is one of the most renowned brands of timepieces. In 1894 a new caliber bore the name of Omega for the first time, and since then it has produced some of the finest caliber wristwatches money can buy. Omega is my favorite Swiss watch firm as well, combining those qualities of name brand recognition, high quality and (relative) affordability that are important to the savvy watch c...ollector.I am pleased to offer the following vintage timepiece from the firm, a men’s ca 1963 Florentine engraved bezel model [Ref. H6307] crafted of 14kt Yellow Gold Fill. This cushion case watch is in excellent PLUS original condition, powered by its original 510 caliber, 17 jewel mechanism. Quadruple-signed, it measures 36mm lug tip to lug tip and 28.4mm in width (30mm with original gold Omega winding crown). It is a slim 8.1mm thick, including crystal. This works out to be just over 1-3/8 inches long by just over 1-1/8 inches wide, not including the crown. My watchmaker David has fully serviced its original Omega 510 caliber manual wind mechanism, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. The 100% original silver, pearl enamel finished dial is in flawless condition, guaranteed UNTOUCHED since it left the Omega workshops. It features applied gold hour markers, original gold Baton-style hands and a crosshair sub-seconds dial with ‘sweep’ seconds’ hand. Signed OMEGA below the 12, complete with applied yellow gold Omega symbol, and SWISS at the base. The low dome original acrylic crystal is in excellent order. The two-piece case is 14 Karat Yellow Gold Filled and in excellent condition, featuring a Florentine engraved bezel, as shown. The original gold Omega winding crown is excellent as well, winding and setting smoothly.Turning the watch over I note that the snap-down back lid is also 14k gold filled and in pristine shape – finely monogramed with a date of 1972. As this watch was produced ca 1963 this was added later.Inside I find a higher grade, rose gold finished mechanism, signed Omega Watch Co., Swiss - Seventeen 17 Jewels, [Caliber] 510, OXG. The serial number is #19, 246, 743 dating the watch to ca 1963 as per company production records. The inside of the case lid is stamped OMEGA WATCH CO. – 14K GOLD FILLED – H6307 with case number below. The case maker was Armand Lemieux, as noted by the ‘L’ case stamp. This fully cleaned, oiled and regulated timepiece winds and sets very smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new, 17mm black Fluco Germany smooth calf leather strap with matching gold finished buckle for a tasteful look. This watch is in incredible, original shape for its age. Made almost 60 years ago but as clean and untouched as when it was first sold. Watch sizes: I provide exact case measurements in millimeters (the watch industry standard) and inches, and include a U.S. quarter in one photo as a size reference. Draw the measurements on a piece of paper to help visualize the watch on your wrist. Remember, men’s vintage watches are noticeably smaller than oversized timepieces you see today. Prefer a brown strap instead of black? For most men’s watches I can switch the color before mailing; just let me know.
