Rare Hudson Bay Co Fur Trade " INSIDE PASS FT WM " Token

Here is a rarely seen artifact of the fur trade, with a low starting price and no reserve. I can find no reference to this item, but it appears to offer the bearer passage to FT WM. It was picked up in the net of a smelt netter at Two Harbors, MN in 1980. It is 3" long and is pitted and corroded from immersion in a river. The stamping across the middle says "HUDSONS BAY CO". In the center is "4". Along the lower edge it says "INSIDE PASS FT WN", to the bes...t of my vision.
This was made to be hung around the neck, and was apparently lost in a river. FT WM may refer to the major Lake Superior trading post, Fort William which passed to HBC by 1821, but I cannot verify that. I cannot guarantee that this was made during the fur trade era. Please review the photos carefully, as they are the basis for you to form an opinion and bid. We have retired and are passing on some of the collections to new caretakers.
