Hand-Built by Carlton, English made, Vintage 1979 Raleigh Competition G.S. (Gran Sport) fast-touring bicycle, in great condition. Beautiful Black color with original hand-painted Gold lug pinstripes on a 23.5in (seattube t-c) frame. Full Reynolds 531 double-butted frame tubing, forks and stays, Bocama Professional lugs with cutouts, Vagner fork crown, and Campagnolo dropouts with rear adjusters. Gents model, 10-speed fast-touring bike. As this bike is essentially 40 years old, all orig...inal wear and tear items have been replaced. Examples would be all bearings, retainer rings, and grease points on the hubs, bottom bracket, and headset.It has original matching front and rear 16-622/700c Weinmann Concave A124 Narrow Section alloy wheels with polished lo-flange Campagnolo Gran Sport hubs on the front and rear. It also has the matching original polished Campagnolo Gran Sport skewers. It has brand new Vittoria lite road 700/18-25c presta tubes with brand new Velox 16mm cloth rim tape. It has brand new Veloflex 700x25c Master 120psi tires (handmade in Italy).It has the original Raleigh Italienne handlebar and original Raleigh SR alloy stem with original chrome Campagnolo headset. Original Weinmann 605 side-pull brake calipers, Original Weinmann chrome brake clamps, and Original Weinmann 605 slotted-polished brake levers with brand new Rustines gum brake hoods (made in France). It has brand new Jagwire Universal Sport black brake housings with Jagwire slick-stainless steel cables. It has brand new Velox Tressorex 85 Black cotton tape and brand new Velox black rubber screw-in bar plugs. It has the original Campagnolo Gran Sport polished alloy 170mm crankset with 42/52T rings, the original Campagnolo crank bolts, and original Campagnolo alloy dust caps. Complete Campagnolo Gran Sport bottom bracket assembly. Pedals are NOT original but are great condition 9/16” Gipiemme Sprint quill pedals with brand new large Brooks England alloy toe clips and brand new Brooks England black leather straps.Original Brooks England Professional brown leather saddle with copper rivets which is stamped "made in England". The seatpost is the original Campagnolo G.S. (Gran Sport) micro-adjustable 27.2mm polished seatpost and it has the original polished seat binder bolt. Brand new NOS Sachs-Sedisport Grand Tourisme France black 1/2”x3/32” chain, will include original box and extra links. The freewheel is the original 5-speed Maillard 13-24T freewheel. The front and rear derailleurs are the original ornate Campagnolo Gran Sport derailleurs with original Campagnolo stainless-steel flex housings and brand new Jagwire stainless-steel slick cables. Original Campagnolo Gran Sport clamp-on style downtube shift levers.The bike runs smooth as butter and shifts without a glitch as all cables and housings were just replaced, hubs have been overhauled, and the chain has been run thru the cleaner three times and re-lubed. The paint is 7/10 and decals are probably a 7/10 as far as condition goes, that's just my honest opinion. There are no dings or rust on the frame or forks, it has been well taken care of.Accessories original to this bike; Cateye RR -950 wheel reflectors with brand new NOS mounting kit and the Zefal Competition HP frame complete with chrome AFA France pump head and mounting bracket. I also installed a brand new NOS REG ITALY spoke disc to bring some of the originality back to this bike. This bike has been fully stripped down, properly washed, polished, and reassembled including all components as seen.
