Historic Negative CollectionNegative from the Brown Brothers Photo Archive file marked "Moving Pictures". Rare image showing film editing, rolling or splicing in process. May be Vitagraph or National Studios.The Vitagraph Company in Brooklyn was the first producer of silent films and started the film industry as we know it today. Established in 1897 and using an Edison patent movie camera, J. Stuart Blackton and Albert Smith founded the Vitagraph Company of America. In 1911 they opened a studio in Hollywood and in 1925 the company was sold to Warner Bros. for a comfortable profit. We have other similar glass plate negatives, see our other auctions.
