About this book:
Charles Godfrey Leland (1824-1903) was an American author and folklorist. He is best remembered now for his writings on magic and paganism particularly Aradia, or the Gospel of the Witches, which is still studied by those interested in Wicca and Neo-paganism.
In Song...s of the Sea and Lays of the Land, Leland borrows from various sailing and mariner ballad traditions and includes some works that are not his at all but rather sailor’s songs from “olden time.”
The book features a decorative binding, gilt to the top page edges, with the rest untrimmed.
