This vintage antique Chinese figural birds colorful silk embroidered piano shawl jacket dates from the 1920s. It is made of a black silk fabric background with bright colorful chartreuse green, blue, purple, pink, white raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work. There is a lu...sh floral foliage gardens motif with a variety of flowers, birds, butterflies, pagoda shrine temples, bridges, Chinese figures men and women completely covering the fabric. This exquisitely embroidered quality made jacket has a short hip length loose fitting boxy style, with long full sleeves, an embroidered wide lapel collar, a replaced newer black gold button front closure with inside snap, wrap style and is fully lined. It was created from an antique finely embroidered Manton de Manila Canton Chinese piano shawl fabric. The jacket measures 24 inches long, with a 36 inch chest, 36 inch waist, 15 inch back and 21 inch long sleeves. It is in fair as-is condition, with a few frays, repairs on the sleeves, under the arms, a fray on the back collar and slight fraying along the front lapel inside edging. This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable Chinese embroidery textile art!
