Pfc. Keith Morrison Little was born on March 4, 1924 near Tonalea, Arizona. He was 17 years of age when he enlisted with the USMC and completed boot camp at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, California. Following he entered the USMC Communication Training Center and eventually became one of the famed Navajo Code Talkers of World War II and transfer to the 24th Marines, 4th Marine Division. Little served in the 4th Division of the United States Marine Corps and fought in the Pacific Theater of World War II. His service took him to communicate the unbroken military voiced code in battles at Saipan, Tinion and Iwo Jima; the code developed by 29 tribal members that was based on the then-unwritten Navajo language. For his service as a Code Talker, President George W. Bush presented Pfc. Little the Congressional Silver Medal in 2001.
