Near-new "Harper's Pictorial History of the Civil War" by Alfred H. Guernsey and Henry M. Alden. Reproduced by The Fairfax Press (Jan. 1, 1977), this was first published in 1866 in two volumes from Star Publishing Co., Chica...go, Illinois; but, at the bottom of the title page: "Entered according to Act of Congress, in the year 1866, by Harper & Brothers of New York."
2-in-1 volume has 998 illustrations, maps, and portraits in a combined 836 pages. One map was a large color foldout of the Southern States in the original book. These tell the story of the Civil War beginning with the birth of our nation and ending after the death of Abraham Lincoln with Reconstruction 1865-1867.
Dust jacket is colorful full-cover battle covering blue and gray hard covers with gold printing on the cover and spine. This book measures 14.6" x 10.7" x 1.9" and weighs 7.5 lbs.
