Bound in it's original cloth boards, there is marginal bumping to the edges, a little toning to the boards and a few faint marks. In spite of these small points, the binding remains in very smart condition. Inside, the pages are clean and bright and free from damage or marks with only the smallest amount of toning or sp...otting from age.The book is housed in it's original jacket, designed by Christopher Cornford. It has been clipped and there is a touch of toning and chipping to the edges, but it remains tidy and smart, and complements the book very nicely.In all, this is a very collectible example of this novel by Murdoch. It is somewhat Gothic in it's setting and feel, and religion and philosophy both play an important role in the book's themes, with the 'Unicorn' of the title representative of Christ. This book will sit well on any shelf and would make an excellent gift for any bibliophile who enjoys Murdoch's work.
