PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE BIDDING. SELLING A LARGE PORTION OF MY ROBOT COLLECTION!
THIS IS A FIVE DAY AUCTION!
Up for auction is a beautiful 1960s battery operated SPACE EXPLORER ASTRONAUT ROBOT with BOX! This Robot was made in Japan around the late 1960s. I purchased him at a toy convention back in the early 1980s and placed him inside a glass case where he's been on display for over 30 years.
This SPACE EXPLORER ASTRONAUT ROBOT is roughly... 11.5 inches tall. I just tested him with fresh batteries and he still works nicely! You flip the yellow switch to the left, and robot will walk forward, stop, then his chest plate will open up, and display a rotating "space scene" image in his chest! Check out my "action shot" photo.
Robot is in great cosmetic shape and has very little play wear. The black paint on his body is nice and glossy. The images on his chest still look amazing, as is his visor and face inside his helmet. There is some slight "dulling" of the chorme on his helmet ears. The battery compartment is clean with no hint of corrosion. The image in his chest moves slowly, but it does rotate! He is mostly made of tin, with red plastic "feet" and black plastic "arms". Please look closely at all of the photos for details. Robot has no "dents", just a few tiny "nicks". Legs look good, as are his foot wheels. On his back battery compartment it has stamped "made in Japan".
The box is all original. There is quite a bit of wear on the box at the corners, the side, and the main face of the front, but I feel that the box lid is still in pretty good shape for its age. There are some tears, and the box lid has been repaired from the inside of the lid. This is how I purchased him. Still, box colors are pretty bright and clear, and would display nicely.
