I am not sure of the lineage of this rod, I originally thought it to be a Vintage Orvis Kit Bamboo Rod, but further research indicates that it might be a Paul Young rod or Southbend rod as both Young and Southbend were using a thumb notched grip on some of their rods at the same time in the late 30's and early 40's. The rod has a reel seat similar to those used by both Southbend and Paul Young. The finish on the rod appears to be impregnated, not characteristic of Southbend and ...more similar to Orvis rods. At any rate, the rod is 8.5' 5 Wt, 9/32" lower male ferrule. Three piece two tips. Nice handling rod, casts 5 or 6 wt line nicely to 60 ft in my hands. The rod is unmarked, and somewhat reminiscent of "Kit"rods sold by Orvis for customers or rod builders to assemble. Note the thumb notch on the cork, a touch a custom builder such as Paul Young might used. Excellent brown impregnated bamboo, dies not appear to be varnish. Custom leather $100 case shown included. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
