Original Description:
Presenting 5 pcs of incredible matching antique Jasperware Drabware with rare to find sterling silver plate lids to 3 pots.  They are in excellent condition with out chips, cracks, losses or repairs.    Interiors are glazed and perfect.  There are a few pin size manufacturer marks.  Scattered light wear to the silver plate. Unsigned,   but each incised with # 1653 when manufactured as a set. Lid on creamer marked with Sheffield 1830 hallmark. A k...ind Dudson collector informed me that the set was actually made later, approx 1860 commenting that the potters used earlier stock silverplate lids and accents. I did not post that comment as I answered the message without checking the add to box. My thanks to the person that took the time to enlighten me..  Another kind person and collector of Dudson recently offered me a wealth of information.  Thank you Paul.  I have added that message here and posted in messages.  HiI have been collecting this pattern for years and your set is a lovely one. It was made by DUDSON - a highly respected firm that actually still exists. This pattern dates to the 1860s or 70s and is prominently illustrated in a book on Dudson that was written by Audrey Dudson who married into the family. The incised numbers on the base (the 6 and the 9 often have long tails) is unique to Dudson of that period All the best, Paul     Hello again,   The sugar bowl on earlier English tea ware was disproportionately larger than the creamer. In modern times our sugar and creamer are of equal sizes but not then. Sugar was often sold in a large loaf and had to be broken apart - I once had a pair of iron sugar tongs used for that purpose. The broken pieces were then put in the sugar bowl. Though your sugar and creamer seem out of scale they are, in my opinion, right as rain and belong together.
Cheers, Paul    The previous owner found these packed in her father's estate and assumes they were purchased by her mother before 1972 as her mother passed in 1972.  The 3 pots had original price tags fixed so her mother obviously never displayed.  We removed 2 of the tags to be sure they could be removed without damage.  They were really adhered from age.  We left one on and will remove  before shipping.  In researching the hallmark we believe it is Sheffield silver plate c1830.  The creamer is the only pc. marked but the 5 pcs. were manufactured at the same time as each has 1653 faintly hand incised in the pottery on the bottoms.  We were actually going to list them separately until we discovered the numbers.  Since they started out together long ago we will list as a lot to attempt to keep them together.  The teapot, creamer and sugar bowl were originally sold as a set at  $595.00.  We originally thought the sugar bowl was a waste bowl because of the size compared to the creamer.  Once again Paul has been gracious in enlightening me to the reason for the difference in size.  We have added that very interesting message to the listing.  The chocolate pot at $425.00 and the coffee pot at $450.00.  If the previous owner purchased them at this price she spent $1470.   We cannot find any comparisons anywhere with silver lids and think quite rare.  If any of our collector friends are looking at this listing and would like to share their expertise we thank you in advance! Thank you for looking and good luck if you are bidding on the these wonderful pieces! Our policy for over 14 years... if actual shipping is less we refund the difference and if more we pay the difference.  If you need additional photos or have questions please ask.  Please check our feedback to see what our buyers say about our items and service!• We offer a 14 day NO HASSLE refund policy.
