This item is a wonderful, original letter dated 1781, where where John Dixon has written to Nathaniel Bayles and states that the bills furnished by the HMS Providence are yet to be paid, and they still must go before the Navy Board...signed John Dixon. Letter is 8x10, two pages, addressed outer leaf, overall very good condition.vCaptain John Ritchie was the Master of the ship Providence a British ship under contract with the Navy Board to transport troops to America. The Providence was... owned by English merchant Nathaniel Bayles, by the 1780s the Providence had been hired by the navy and become a Transport taking troops over to fight in the war in North America.
