Henri Ardant and Pierre Poncet became partners in 1854, and produced works of art in an old porcelain factory Manufacture Royale de Limoges at rue ...Bobillot 2 in Limoges. Poncet retired from the company in 1858. Ardant has changed company name on "Henri Ardant & Cie", and moved to the factory buildings on the Rue Cruveilher 6.
H. Ardant has focused its activity on the production of decorative and artistic porcelain, mainly the biscuit. He has collaborated with many artists of that period, such as: Joseph Cheret, Sylvain Kinsburger, Hippolyte Moreau and Hector Lemaire.
Raymond Laporte, son-in-law of Ardant, joined the company in 1878, and after Ardant's death, in 1883 continued an independent porcelain production in the new factory on the 52bis Rue François-Chénieux.
