Very little is known about the enigmatic Sith Lord Darth Maul, sinister apprentice of DArth Sidious in Star Wars: Episode 1 The Phantom Menace. However, his brief appearance left an indelible mark on the Star Wars universe. It is evident that his skill with the lightsaber is almost unmatched. Maul dispatched the Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, and nearly succeeded in slaying Obi-Wan Kenobi as well. Darth Maul's deadly lightsaber is as unique as his frightening visage. For the first time in the Star Wars film sage, we are introduced to a double-bladed lightsaber.
There were actually numerous props created for Darth Maul's appearance in the film. The Master Replicas model was created from a direct study of the hero lightsabers at the Lucasfilm Archive. In order to add value and durability to this unique replica, however, Maul's lightsaber has been produced in machined and die cast metals rather than resin.
