This is an awesome and very hard to find vintage enameled cast-iron oval Dutch oven made in France by Cousances. Le creuset purchased Cousances in 1957. I am not sure what year this piece was made. It is in remarkable condition for its age. Both the brown exterior enamel and the white interior enamel are in excellent condition and have no stains and no chips in the enamel. There are some very small enamel chips on the edge of the lid, but these are not very noticeable. There is a... detachable stay cool cover for the knob that is helpful if you are using the pot on a stove top. You remove it for oven use. The pot is a whopping 13 x 10 x 5 and 1/2 inches, and i believe it holds 6 quarts. Plenty large enough to roast a chicken, turkey, duck, goose or pot roast. It really is an awesome piece of cookware.
