Bulova Accutron 1966 Model 214 10K Gold Filled. Orig Box/paper, Buckle & ' Coin '
Item History & Price
A beautiful example of this classic Bulova Accutron from my personal collection that is sure to be a prized addition to yours. Though displaced by quartz in barely a decade, the tuning fork movement was heralded for it's accuracy and was a favorite of railroads, airlines, and other organizations where accurate timekeeping was a necessity - even NASA! If you've never owned one, ...you'll love the hum this movement makes.
Runs great and keeping excellent time. After 50 years, still runs within 90-seconds/month as per manufacturer spec when new!
This watch came from an estate sale - the boxes and other materials have been with this watch from it's very first day of sale. Since I've owned it, it has been mostly on display and worn only rarely. The watch runs accurately with a 387S battery, and the tuning fork has a strong hum.
Minimal signs of wear for a watch of this vintage (10K is fairly scratch resistant), and no brassing. There is a small 'ding' on the case at the 10:00 position. It's visible in the side-view photo under magnification, but not noticeable when worn. The silver dial is clean, and the crystal is scratch-free.
Includes an authentic vintage Accutron buckle in 10K rolled gold plate (rgp). The watch and buckle are mounted on a lizard strap. The strap has been worn but it looks good, and has life left in it.
Comes complete with its original display box and outer box. The display box has a weak hinge, but is otherwise in excellent condition. Even the original sales receipt and sticker from the original jeweler are still together with this watch.
And YES... I'm including the original battery cover tool (the 'coin') that came with this watch. If you follow Accutron, you'll know that since the 'coin' is so often lost, some sellers price this item at $50 alone!
Starting this auction low, and with no reserve. Good luck!
