The central catch works fine, unfortunately, the key is missing The leather binding to the edges is all intact as, for the most is the waxed cotton stitching, however, there is a loose corner the front of the lid as well as some scuffing and scratches, mainly to the ends an...d corners. The original straps are present with no splits or cracks and the four anchor points are very sturdy. However, the canvas case does show the usual small tears, stains and discolouration that one would associate with years of use. I have tried to show the condition in the photographs.Internally, the red coloured baise lining is in good order, but does have some stains and a small hole in the bottom.The "Cogswell & Harrison Ltd " label is attached to the inside of the lid, this has been stitched through when the original owner has applied a leather plaque with his initials.The external measurements of the case are 83 cm (32 3/4 inches) long and 23 cm (8 3/4 inches) wide. It is 8.5 cm (3 1/2 inches) deep.The internal barrel length is 79 cm (31 inches) and the stock length is 58 cm (22 3/4 inches).
