A NOTE ABOUT SHIPPING BEFORE I GET TO THE DESCRIPTION DETAILS: Because this package is so huge and heavy (10 pounds, and 40 inches by 32 inches by 2 inches boxed), shipping obviously isn't cheap. The eBay shipping calculator above shows how much it will cost to get to you, and there will be an additional handling fee of $10.00 to cover insurance. But if you can meet me in Woo...dland Hills, California (in the western San Fernando Valley north of Los Angeles) and pay with cash, you will pay ZERO for shipping and insurance. ALSO: I will ship internationally, but be aware that international shipping is only through eBay's Global Shipping Program, which can be VERY expensive depending on where you live. They set the price, not me -- I get only the same amount that a US bidder would pay, and eBay gets all the rest.

Here is a fantastic (and big!) Kate Bush record label promo item that apparently is quite rare -- considering that I never have found even a single photo of one of these for sale anywhere online from anyone else! I have the feeling that not many of these were made, because Kate Bush was not a very high priority for the EMI America label when her first album was released. (The label didn't even bother releasing her next few albums in America until long after they were out in England.) I have no idea how many of these were produced...but have YOU ever seen one before?
I got this directly from a US record store back in 1978, which means that I have been its only owner from that point on. It is a die-cut cardboard standee that measures a big 36 inches tall by 29 inches wide. Panels in the back fold inward and downward to fit within each other and allow it to stand on its own (or you can leave them flattened and hang this on a wall, I suppose).
The image on the front is the "blue jeans and red knee socks" photo of Kate from the US version of her first album THE KICK INSIDE, a cover image that was not used on copies made in other countries. But you already knew that.
At the bottom left corner, the fine print says "Printed in U.S.A." At the bottom right, under the words "Kate Bush is an EMI America Recording Artist, " the fine print says "(copyright symbol) 1978 EMI America Records Inc."
Condition overall is good, especially considering that it is now more than 40 years old -- but be aware that it has these flaws: The standee (which I also will call a stand up, in case anyone is searching for that term) shows some crimps/creases in the areas shown in the close-up photos above (especially at the top of her hair). The white reverse side of the cardboard shows "age browning" and some marks. Some areas at the edges show mild chipping, blunting or wear, and the bottom corners are more blunted, with corner wear.
At the bottom under Kate's name, where a narrow area of the cardboard folds under to form a sort of narrow base to keep the standee more stable, the edges show a lot of wear and chipping. Also, the name "Jane" is handwritten in ballpoint pen on the back. Finally, the flaps on the back that fold down to meet the vertical flaps and keep the standee rigidly upright have small tears where their grooves join up and some discoloration, but it's not a disaster, and they still do what they are supposed to do. (The standee will stand up on its own, in other words.)
This is not a pristinely perfect museum-piece copy, in other words, but it also definitely has not been abused. This always has been stored inside the houses where I have lived (never in a storage unit, a hot garage, a musty basement or an insect-infested shed).
You won't be embarrassed to have it as part of your collection, that's for sure -- especially considering that you apparently will be one of the very few people on the planet to possess a copy in ANY condition!
I honestly have no idea what this is worth, because there are no other copies that I can find ANYWHERE, past or present, that have been sold. If you know of anyone else anywhere in the world who has one, I would love to know how much insurance that person has on the thing!
