Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:67479469 |
This is one of my favorite pieces. It has a very interesting history and creation. The art style and the overall structure are so aesthetically pleasing, this piece was designed over 100 years ago but was never made in vaseline glass. The color of the vaseline glass and really accentuates the frog theme. Here is the story of this piece:
"...This covered butter dish in the shape of a frog was made from an original mold from Bryce, Higbee & Co. that was owned by L. G. Wright. ‘Red’ Roetteis, who co-authored the book about L. G. Wright (and was a former salesman for the company) rented the mold the last week before the company closed and had 75 of these butter dishes made. When the assets of the company was sold off." Source - Vaseline Glass Collectors International.
I can confirm that only 74 dishes exist today. The piece is often on the most wanted list for many uranium glass and vaseline glass collectors.
Size: 8.5" Long 6.5" Wide | Base 5.5" Long 3.5" Wide | Total Height 3.5"
This piece is in excellent condition and does not have any cracks, breaks, chips, or flea bites. There is a small bubble alone the front nose. This sort of looks like a beauty mark ;) please see the pictures. Additionally there is a tiny piece of debris inside the glass on the bottom dish (it is very hard to see) but it is slightly cloudy, maybe 1/4" of a inch or smaller.
Please carefully inspect all pictures. The images are considered a representation of the overall condition in addition the description.
