This is an antique Spanish maritime ship diorama shadowbox, early 20th century. It is constructed of wood and cording and measures 15” x 20” x 3”. There’s a caption underneath the ship written in Spanish. At some point a translation into English was handwritten on the back that reads: “The “Five Sisters” of 100 tons started out from the Palma de Mallorca and was steered by the ship’s pilot, Don Ernesto Toler, who navigated from 1868 to 1901 and was lost on Ja...nuary 14, 1912 in front of the coast of Cadiz.” It is a beautiful antique maritime diorama with an interesting story.
