This middle to late 1800’s hand crafted vase tests as solid silver (no markings) of a less than sterling grade…probably around 750/1000…and measures 11 ½” tall x 4 3/8” at the base. The 8-lobed body is hand-formed of 8 separate blown out, hand-raised and chased “flower petals” that have been silver soldered and finished with a fire gilt golden surface. The workmanship is extraordinary and the details are exquisite with each panel profusely ornamented with gorgeous plants... and flowers and exotic birds. The base and short stem have stylized acanthus like details and the whole glimmers with gold and delicate handwork. You will note some wear to the fire gilding, especially on the tips of the petals and there is a lot of old polish residue (white) in the details.
