ENGLISH STERLING WINE COASTER - TROLLEY 43-40 MADE DUKE OF WELLINGTON
A very limited edition (only 50 made in the world) 1977 British sterling silver commemorative wine trolley.
A super re-creation of the 1826 original presented to the Duke of Wellington for his major victories byKing George IV.
Each section hallmarked.The London firm RFE is unknown to us.

The trolley comprised of two matching turned wood center, with sterling plaquecoaster beaded trim, supported atop carriage with working acanthus spoke wheels, handle with also steers the front wheels.Adorned with 24 sterling plaques or medals each depicting a different campaign or battle
of the the British military.These include the Battle of Vimiara, the English entry into the port of Lisbon, Passage at Duro 1809, the cavalry charge at Waterloo, Spanish defeat at Cape St. Vincentand more.......
This Duke of Wellington sterling wine trolley is 17 inches long, with handleand coasters are 6 inches diameter and the entire setweighs 71 standard ounces, less a few ounces for the turned wood coaster bases.
In very fine condition.Rich sterling patina.Original detail.Few scuffs and tiny bends.
