Vintage Scrimshaw Whale Tooth Walrus Tusk Unusual Old Maritime Collectible.
*** This is a scrimshaw whale tooth.Great maritime display item; One side is engraved with some kind of sea goddess riding on the back of a large fish. The other side is engraved with a prayer to the Great Jehovah in ornate script for the safety of those who sail the seas and hunt the whales.Note: I know nothing about these items; it is an estate find and dates to at least the 1980s; I have been told that it ...is a reproduction and not an actual whale tooth or tusk.
Nice interesting and unique item for the collector of ship, sailing, maritime, scrimshaw, whale hunting, folk lore items, etc.
What you see is what you get.Pictures are part of the description; examine closely. When in doubt: Ask questions BEFORE bidding.
NOTE: I use a flat S&H fee; so plan on it when placing your bid. That is easiest for both you and I. It is also the most fair way for all bidders; the final total price is the same no matter where you live. Bidders who live close to me do not have an unfair advantage over those on the West Coast. The auction will determine the true value of this item when the flat fee is known to all bidders. I try to estimate cost to ship to the West Coast closely, and add a little pad after having undercharged on several occasions. However, the flat fee applies ONLY to shipment within the lower 48 continental US; S&H may be higher outside the lower 48, so if you win this auction and live outside the lower 48 states, wait for an invoice from me before making payment.I also accept check or MO.NO international sales (except thru eBay global shipping center).
