Old Vintage Double - Sided COCA - COLA Coke PORCELAIN Store SIGN 1950s RARE
Item History & Price
This is a relatively rare Porcelain Multi-Panel Coca-Cola Sign from the 1950s. This particular sign is fairly rare compared to the other Multi-Piece Coke signs made from the 1930s through 1960s. The sign is composed of 6 large porcelain on steel panels with porcelain edge pieces around the top and bottom panels and chrome (or maybe Stainless Steel) trim strips around the corners. As a result, this sign is quite heavy-- I would estimate around 100 lbs. ...The sign comes with the original top mounting brackets.
In a Google search, I found "Grummon Sundry" listed in a 1953 edition of the "Dayton Review, " so I can say with some confidence this sign came from that store in Dayton, Ohio.
CONDITION:
Condition is very good overall. One of the top store name panels (GRUMMON) is somewhat dented and has some rust on it where it appears water leaked between the seams of the sign. All other panels on the sign are in great condition, with great gloss and very vivid colors. The Coca-Cola Red panels are in exceptionally fine condition, with no perceptible damage except for a few tiny flea-bites on one of the quarter-bullnose ends.
This sign has never been waxed or oiled or clear-coated or repaired or retouched in any way. I only washed it with soapy water and let it dry, so the pictures show the real condition of the sign.
DIMENSIONS:
This sign measures about 54" high x 60" wide. It is unusual in comparison to other Coca-Cola Multi-Panel porcelain signs in that it is about 6" thick and hollow in the middle. As a result, people often add neon lighting to this particular style of Coke sign, since it can accommodate transformers in the center section. I am selling a 100% original sign that has never been modified.
SHIPPING INFORMATION:
No sales outside of US 48-States. Unfortunately, I would rather NOT ship this heavy sign, as it would require fairly substantial crating. I do know a trucker that is highly reliable and super careful that can blanket wrap the sign and take it just about anywhere in the lower-48 states, but it takes her a while to cross the US each way. You can call her (Wendy Buckus--North Wind Transport) and check her schedule and estimated cost to your location (she is very reasonable). I am also open to other solutions, but the buyer is ultimately responsible for all shipping or crating requirements.
Otherwise, I would prefer pickup in Los Angeles.
I will also deliver this to anywhere within a 50 mile radius of Los Angeles for $50, or perhaps further for additional money.
