Original owner. Purchased in 1966 at the Naval Exchange on the Amphibious Base, Coronado, CA. This watch has been with me since deployment and return from Vietnam. It’s time to sell to another lover of Iconic and vintage watches. 100% original and authentic. Original leather band wore out and broke years ago. Gruen produced these dive watches as an answer to the Blancpain Fifty Fathom, Breitling SuperOcean, and Rolex Submariner of the same era, which were a commercial success at this time. Gruen even utilized the same bezel as the Breitling SuperOcean, giving the watch a unique, concave appearance.This Gruen Ocean Chief is in great vintage condition.
