This isan original early 20th century English landscape oil on canvasdepicting a man fishing from a small boat by a watermill ‘Onthe Avon, Gloucestershire’ by the very popular listed British artist Francis E.Jamieson (1895-1950). Thepainting is signed and hangs in a good quality 20th century giltwoodswept frame. As with all of the original antique oil paintings we sell it isoffered in the finest condition it can be for its age, having just been professionally cleaned and re-v...arnished. This isthe earliest work I have ever come across by this artist and is signed ‘G.Jameson’ which further proves what I have long thought, that ‘F.E. Jamieson’(like the two dozen other names associated with this artist) is itself apseudonym. It is my opinion that the ‘Jameson/Jamieson’ name was one of a greatmany pseudonyms used by the Clark family of 19th century artists;namely Octavius Thomas Clark and his two sons Stanley and Louis Edgar whenselling landscapes to their American dealers. Every painting is first wrapped inacid free paper and then the entire frame is enveloped in deep, dense foam Ucushioning. This is then covered in numerous layers of AirCap bubble wrap, which is the best and safest product of its type on the market. Sheets of highdensity fine art packaging card are then secured to the front and rear of thepainting with waterproof cloth tape before the painting is then fitted in placeinside a bespoke fine art shipping box. The entire package is then bound inblack shrink wrap (as used by airline companies) and a final later ofwaterproof cloth tape is applied to all corners, ends and edges.
