Men’s ROLEX Oyster Royal Precision Wristwatch. Reference 4220. Stainless Steel. Hand-Winding Movement Caliber 710. Black Canvas Strap. Made in Switzerland. Circa 1940
Movement: Manual hand-winding. Caliber 710. 17 jewels. Signed “Rolex Precision, Patented Superbalance, Swiss Made”.
Dial: Matte silver (factory original patina). Applied gilt Arabic numerals and painted hour indexes. Outer minute/seconds chapter. Gilt and luminous hands, sweep center seconds hand. Signed... “ROLEX Oyster Royal, Precision, Swiss Made”.
Case: Oyster, solid stainless steel, three body, round shaped. Steel plane bezel. Acrylic crystal. Solid lugs. Steel Oyster screwed-down crown at 3 signed “Rolex + Oyster”. Stainless steel screw down back, engraved inside “Brevetee, Rolex S.A., Geneve-Suisse, 31 Victoires, Haute Precision, RWC. Ltd., 4220”.
Diameter: 30 millimeters (32.5 mm. including the crown). 36mm. lug to lug.
Bracelet: vintage black canvas (Nato) strap, military style, with steel buckle.
Condition: This timepiece is complete and working, but please check some cosmetic issues on it: dial is complete and readable, but has background color wear, and some rusty on hands. Scratches and marks on case, mainly on back (please check the larger photographs for details). Movement working properly, but minor issue with the crown: It works as it should, but when you unscrew the crown to wind the mechanism up, you have to hold it firmly to the right side, pulling it gently and minimally, and in that way to prevent the crown from turning towards the case, because if this happens, the winding process will lock, and you will have to pull the crown out again, always gently and minimally, to resume the loading process.
