This listing is for a fully functional BATTERY OPERATED SANTA CLAUS PAY PHONE BANK with original box as shown. It is in excellent - near mint condition. Colors are clear & bright. Litho, tin, plush fur & clothing are very nice. No corrosion anywhere. To operate, put a coin, ( penny, nickel, dime or quarter), in the payphone, then dial the rotary phone about 4 or 5 times, or just hold the dial to any number such as "1" for about 4 seconds and then release the dial. Then the phon...e on Santa's desk starts ringing and the notepad Santa is writing on lights up with MERRY X-MAS and the name plate on the desk light's up with Santa's real name, " Kris Kringle ". He then picks up the phone with his left hand and starts nodding his head as if listening to to some far away child's wish list. He then starts talking and moving his right hand holding the blue pencil as if writing on the paper. He then puts the phone down. Place the receiver back on the pay phone hook, so the coin can realistically drop into the bank. Too cool. Start it again by putting another penny in the pay telephone. Very cute! Strong mechanism. This toy has been tested and works great. No damage anywhere. The wiring is not brittle or cracked. The battery compartment is mint as are the connections. Displays extremely well. This is a "MADE IN JAPAN" toy listed in Don Hultzman's book, COLLECTOR'S GUIDE TO BATTERY TOYS, copyright 2002, second edition. It is pictured & listed on page 153. It is a 1950's era toy made by the S&E Co. This vintage toy has a rarity of 9 on a scale to 10 being the rarest, and a value of $1, 000.00+ in C-10 condition without the box. The original box is included. It is in poor / fair condition as it has a number of taped repairs. This hard to find working toy would make a nice addition to anyone's collection. Great gift idea for that special child / elf in your life. Too cute! Other 50's & 60's mint & mib battery op & wind-up toys listed in auction & my EBAY store.
