C. 1880 labeled MATTHAEUS IGNATIUS BRANDSTAETTER, FECIT VIENNAE ANNO 1822. There are several repaired cracks which are all clearly pictured.  Each repair was expertly done and the violin is in perfect playing condition. The tone  clear, rich, and powerful, very appealing with sweet ringing overtones.  Notes come out easily from soft to loud and in all registers. Despite being more than 150 years old, the violin is solid and eager to be played!  Back measures 355 mm....
