RARE Vintage STEIFF Germany Round Wood Teddy Bear Toy Box / Store Display A rare and unusual vintage round Steiff toy box that resembles an oversize hat box. We were unable to find another example of a Steiff item that was even remotely similar to this box. It appears to have been used as a child's toy box and shows some crayon marks throughout. One theory is that it might have originally been a store display piece. Another theory is that it was originally a gift box for a bear or other stuffed ...toy. Bottom stamped twice "Made in GERMANY". Solid wood construction. Measures 17 3/4" in diameter x 9 1/2" tall. Fresh out of a local estate. Good vintage condition with evidence of minor repair. Top lid piece appears to have been re-glued and is slightly miss-aligned with some glue visible. Evidence of use and wear throughout including some crayon marks, scratches, and small stress cracks.
