Up for sale here is a pair of antique, what look to be hand crafted, arts and crafts bronze candlesticks. These pieces come from the Chicago area where many famous arts and crafts designers fashioned similar pieces like this in the 1900 to 1920s period. They look much like the works produced by Jessie Preston during this time. These candlesticks measure about 13 5/8 inches high and are about 5 7/16 inches in diameter at the base. The little candle holder at the top measures about... 1/ 1/4 inches in diameter by about 1 3/8 inches high. The candlesticks have their original dull gold color patina. We can not find any markings on the either candle stick either on the bottom or side but the quality is quite good. It looks as if they are each made of a single piece of bronze that was pulled and formed. The thickness of the metal is not uniform on either piece though they are just about the exact height. One candlestick weighs 2 pounds 4 3/4 ounces and the other one weighs 2 pounds 4 1/4 ounces. As for condition. The major defect is that one of the candlesticks has a slight curve or slight bend but neither piece as been broken or repaired. The patina is still in good shape but there are a few light green spots on the bottom. There are also some deposits of old wax in each holder, from use that needs to be cleaned. These would make a nice addition for all of you arts and crafts collectors out there and their modern looking design would also fit nicely into contemporary settings.
