Up for auction is a vintage 1980's JVC RC-838JW Biphonic Boombox. The stereo is working on the radio bands as well as having a working cassette. The speakers are fine. No cracks, dents or missing pieces. The battery compartment is perfectly clean. The unit will need a little light maintenance, please read. The switches will need cleaned with contact cleaner, you get that cracking sound that comes from dirty contacts. The cassette door opens very slowly, you need to help the door to ful...ly open, probably dried grease on the door hinges. It doesn't seem like the bass/treble levels do anything. The battery door foam is pretty well deteriorated from age. I didn't test to see if it records or not, nor did I test any of the other aux inputs. I have no power cord but it is running fine off 8 new batteries. I will include them since they are new and I have no other use for them. All radio bands work, the antennas are perfectly straight, the cassette plays and the speakers sound great. Overall a super clean system.
