We are offering for sale a very nice vintage, antique Lauson (Tecumseh) V45, 4.5HP (4.5 HP) vertical shaft engine. This engine is very unique in that it comes with a rare hand crank impulse starter. This engine looks to be very similar to later engines made by Tecumseh such as the V50 or V60. We believe that many of these parts do interchange with Tecumseh engines. It has a 3/4" diameter keyed PTO crankshaft. The Model number is V45B 1322 P.
W...e believe this engine to be from the late 1950's or early 1960's, but don't know for sure. If someone does know from the serial number in the photo, please contact us and let us know. We have not attempted to start this engine. It does turn over with compression. It should be assumed that at a minimum, the fuel system would need to be cleaned, carburetor rebuilt, and the points and condenser replaced with new parts. As you can see from the photos, the oil dip stick is missing. However, the inside of the gas tank is VERY clean.
This is 50+ year-old engine and is being sold as is, with no warranties or guarantees. Please look over all of the photos carefully, and ask any questions before bidding.
