after italy was liberated, most people were out of work. these were made by ex soldiers , sold to the gi's for souvenirs so they could purchased food. very nicely done. some people call these objects trench art. a piece of g i history in italy.  it measures 9.3/8". has some nicks scratches and copper age to it. ask any questions
