Wonderful vintage Gouda pottery covered jar w/ original lid. Signed on bottom. Made by the Gelria Factory in their Flora pattern in Arnhem, the Netherlands/Holland. Stands 6" tall from base to top of knob on lid. Open jar is 4 & 3/4" across. Base is 4 & 3/8" across. Black semi-matte glaze with dark purple and blue flowers and leaves in shades of green, orange, brown, light blue and burgundy. Condition is excellent EXCEPT for several small flaws on outer rim of base that look to... be glaze pops that occurred in the firing process. There are also 2 black spots on the bottom of the base (see photos) that were very shallow, miniscule chips that have been colored black and do not show anywhere except on the bottom. These flaws on the base and the bottom are mentioned for the sake of accuracy and do not detract from the jar in any way. They are not even visible unless one picks the jar up for very close inspection of the base. My Gouda pottery book says the Gelria factory opened in the 1920s and was closed by 1932, so this covered jar would have been produced within those dates.
