Up for auction with No Reserve is an INCREDBLE HUGE c1830 ENGLISH PORCELAIN JAPAN IMARI PATTRN SOUP TUREEN & PLATTER. The Soup Tureen and Platter or Stand is part of a huge service we are listing this week in many lots. I am told the consignor bought this service about 12 years ago directly from a descendant of the family who bought it brand new in the 1820's or 30's. Amazing that it stayed in the same family for almost 200 years and honestly the entire service looks to have been rarely if ever used. The consignor has never used it and said it was wrapped in newspapers from the 1930's when he purchased it from the original family, so I doubt it has been used in 80 years ! The Dishes all feature matching Japan Imari patterns and are simply marked with the pattern Number 3116, which I believe was made by Spode, Derby or Rockingham but could also be by one of the other top Georgian Period English Porcelain Companies. There are all sorts of pieces listed including Dinner and Luncheon Plates. Soup Plates, Soup Tureen, Vegetable Tureens, a Centerpiece Bowl and several sizes of Platters.
Condition : The Soup Tureen and Stand are in amazing condition with no damage or repairs and look to have been rarely used.
Size : The Tureen is very large and impressive measuring 13-1/2 inches long by 9-3/4 inches wide and stands 9-3/4 inches tall to the top of the lid handle. The Platter or Stand measures 15-3/4 inches long by 12-1/2 inches wide.
