The tests analyze each type o...f possible electron gunfailure to provide accurate information about the ability of the gun assemblyto produce an electron beam with the correct specifications. This informationhelps you decide whether the CRT will continue to operate in the circuit, whether you should attempt to improve its condition with the CR70 “Beam Builder"functions, or whether it should be replaced. The beam building functionsprovide five different levels of cathode improvement, providing the correcttype of restoration or rejuvenation needed to improve most defective CRTs withthe safest cathode recovery methods possible. You use the test results to guideyou through the beam building steps. Features The CR70 tests each gun and eachelement individually, using dynamic tests which simulate the CRT in actualoperation. The tests confirm that there are no inter- element shorts, that eachgun has the correct dynamic range (range of cathode current between darkest andbrightest display) and that each gun has enough emission level to produce anacceptable image on the CRT screen. Color reproduction problems are readilyidentified with a patented color tracking test, which compares the emissionlevels of all three electron guns of a color CRT, or the three individual CRTsof a three-tube projection system, to confirm the three colors can be properlybalanced against each other. The CR70 provides five types of cathode recoveryto allow you to use enough current to do the job effectively, without applyingmore than would be safe for a particular type of CRT failure. The CR70 metermonitors the amount of restoring current, allowing you to control the results.The CR70 operates on only one gun of a color CRT at a time allowing the beambuilding action for each gun. The design of the CR70 allows the use of thefewest number of adapter sockets possible. Because of its unique design, theCR70 is virtually obsolete proof. Unlike other CRT testersthe CR70 requires only one adapter socket foreach type of CRT base. Setup switches let you compensate for different wiringconfigurations for a single style of socket.
