Zeus 2000 Titanium Bottom Bracket | Vintage | English BSC 1" 370 x 24 | 118 x 55C
I road this for one season in '81 before switching to a Phil Wood Sealed BB. Has been in storage since. Moving in a few months. Time to empty some boxes.
Zeus was founded in 1926 and sponsored the Spanish National Team for decades. Zeus the first bicycle company to make use of titanium. The 2000 series components 1st style was introduced in '75. In '79 the 2nd style was introduced and was in... production through '84 -- though it was over produced and stock remained available from Zeus and it's distributors well into '87. When 1st introduced Zeus claimed the 2000 series titanium components were the lightest on the market. The complete BB with bearings was between 185 & 193 grams (depending on length of spindle and what series of crank bolts were used).
For purists who wanted to match European components with their Italian or Spanish Columbus double-butted steel tubing bicycles, the Zeus 2000 Titanium components were a true alternative to Campagnolo. And in the days before carbon fiber, when we were obsessed with weight savings, most of the Zeus 2000 series was actually lighter.
